Meet Your Sage Sister

Hi! I'm Hayley Ryerson, a childbirth educator and birth & postpartum  doula. I do this work because I want each birth to belong to the person giving birth...and that it be a bit magical.

I am empathetic, a good listener, and experienced educator. I am a Maternal Support Practitioner certified by bebo mia inc, which means that I have completed a comprehensive doula training in fertility, labour & birth, and postpartum rooted in a feminist an anti-oppressive curriculum.

  • Who are these sessions for? Can I bring my partner(s) or birth support people?
You can attend the sessions solo, or bring anyone you like in your sessions. These sessions are designed for you, the birther, and anyone you want there to support you during the sessions and/or labour and birth. Bring your partners, mothers, sisters, or friends, even your doula!
  • Are these the same as prenatal sessions with a doula?
Sage Method Sessions are an in-depth educational experience designed to provide comprehensive information about childbirth and be a container for your to discover your personal vision for your birth. The sessions are a foundation to understand the physiological aspects of birth and offer practical strategies to support that process. These sessions also facilitate clear communication of your vision and preferences to your partner(s) and/or birth support team. There is lots of time to ask questions, have your mind blown, and complete interactive activities and worksheets during the sessions to leave with answers and clarity. Prenatal meeting with your labour and birth doula are focused on building a relationship between you and your doula and reviewing your birth plan, with the aim of preparing you for birth and establishing trust & good communication as a team. While prenatal meetings with your doula may touch on various topics included in Sage Method Sessions (eg: golden hour), those meetings are primarily about getting to know each other and discussing your birth plan, instead of a deep dive of discovery and learning. While both types of sessions prepare you for childbirth, the prenatal sessions are about relationship-building and communication, while the childbirth education sessions offer deeper knowledge and practical skills.
  • Where do sessions take place?
These sessions can be delivered online via Zoom. For folks in Halifax, sessions can be in-person at client's home.
  • What payment methods are there?
I can accept e-transfer, or payment via credit card (3% processing fee applies)
